Not exactly in English:
2ch/2channel -> futaba (2chan) -> 4chan -> "chans"
Futaba's "2chan" is exclusively the cute ちゃん to not mix with 2ch (though now 5ch), and not channneru's chan (It's usually "Futaba☆chan", but sometimes also Futaba☆channel), as 4chan's name is based on 2chan (and all the 4chan-derived "xxxchan" BBS'es), it's also just ちゃん. So the English usage of referring BBSes as "chan"s doesn't come from 2channel's channel
4chan is sometimes called "yotsuba channel" in Japanese, but that's unrelated nao
