they are a bit silly, if mostly because their guiding philosophy is based on extreme sincerity (which is occasionally taken to absurdity), but also just general deliberately low quality posting on occasion
but I have had good experiences there in regards to having more serious discussions, and the crowd isn't particularly from any *chan site

I still think you could post interesting, serious topics here on /lounge/ but also on /sw/, even if this board gets little traffic and strange world discussions tend to end up being brief due to the layout
despite the irreverent nature of /sw/, I've found that you can get pretty good replies

lainchan kinda always felt like a mess of a place and I know I'd post there way more if it wasn't

unfortunately, most places are just going to be either full of 4chan refugees or hellholes full of social media posters, so you're going to have to pick your poison to some extent

I am aware of denpachan having quite a big population of those-who-shall-not-be-named, and that kinda turns me off, but I'm willing to lurk for a bit. I just wish there could be a site that was neither like 4chan nor social media, somewhere where people would speak normally without internet slang, without pepes or smug reaction images. A man can dream.

if you make serious conversation, other people will have serious conversation with you. why so serious though?

what do you define as unserious? people making jokes? if thats the case, youre going to have a hard time finding a place on the internet free from that. maybe some try-hard serious r*ddit or an old forum somewhere.

The truth is the forums are all about community participation... you shape a community based on what you add to it, if you want serious conversation - make more big brained threads, other people who are in the mood for it will respond to it. If you cant find a place that suits you, foster a culture which does.

Don't get me wrong, it's possible for good discussions to be had in Heyuri. The problem is that half of the time the conversation gets derailed into something relating to loli pornography, or just pornography in general. Heyuri is simply not the best place for this sort of thing.

does that really happen? i havent seen normal threads be derailed in that way..(;ﾟДﾟ ) if your issue is with people talking about lolis rather than unserious conversation itself, there are plenty of places on the net who immediately ban people for speaking about lolis, you could go to one of those places if it truly bothers you.

there has been many srs threads here, OP either hasn't seen any and didn't attempt to create a thread for the topic he wants to talk about himself, or he doesn't want to see any single fun post in his srsbsns thread and would be happier browsing some old men's internet forum

For one, certain topics are banned, so there's that, and there is a difference between serious business and just genuine conversation. Again, I'm not shitting on this site or anything, Heyuri is great, I'm just looking for other options, do you understand? Please don't take offense to what I'm saying.
