i have a vague recollection of some obnoxious anti-pedophile "activists" who spammed some site with cp and then went on social media condemning these sites for hosting cp
could cp-spammer be one of them? *grumble grumble*

I don't think it's activism or entrapment, more likely to be sum 3rd world scammers taking a routine-like shotgun approach

Here are sum facts we know about them:
- They've been going for several years
- They primarily target imageboards and imageboard-adjacent sites
- They post manually, one site at a time, one board at a time
- They sometimes test the waters with different board types (such as various areas of the CGI site) and testing for wordfilters in sage'd posts. Usually they decide it's not worth persuing and just stick with regular imageboards
- They use a single IP during a "round" across all of the sites they hit, but it will be a different IP in subsequent "rounds"
- The frequency of their spam varies: sumtimes they go weeks without bothering, other times they will attack multiple times a day
- As far as I've noticed, there's no schedule or consistent time they attack - it's effectively random
- They hit our boards in the order of left to right on the toplinks, but they typically give up after hitting the 5th or 6th board (which is /h/ or /jp/ these days)
- When we had less boards, they would commonly hit Oekaki, Strange World, and lounge as well, but they don't bother with those these days
- They use a single image per round if they can, but if there's an anti-spam measure in place to block repeat images or hash-based image bans, they will use a different image for each post just for that site
- Several years ago, they always used the same image distorted a little more each time to prevent hash bans. They no longer appear to do this, at least not so obviously
- They seemingly have a limited amount of material, reusing the same images multiple times in subsequent attacks
- They link to a preview video which rarely changes
- Their material is weirdly shit - it doesn't seem like it would be particularly appealing even to pedobear himself
- They don't report their own posts to service providers or make noise on social media sites, which is what you would typically see with a false flag CP attack
- There's never been any kind of law enforcement or 3-letter agency follow-up or raid, as u would expect from entrapment or a sting

they've been doing it for at least fifteen years, not just a few

it's just spammers, that's the risk of running a site with public posting

Maybe it's another bot training itself to drown out real conversations/discussions and to maximize chaos by testing both mod and user reactions.
