Do you read them? I don't, very much. I find them kind of superfluous. Worse still if they're written by someone who's not the author, and years after the book is published, or after the author is dead. At that point it's just somebody's personal interpretation of a work,before you get to the work itself.

I used to never read them, but now I sometimes do, especially if the author wrote them. If they're written by a third party, I'll generally skim them a bit unless it's short. I can't really say I've gained a lot from reading any, though.

depends, i don't read as much as i use to, and the last books i've read where "how to" books, and a good few of those books are filled with padding, unnecessary stuff. like if you ever searched for a recipe for chimichangas and the beginning is filled with a personal blogpost about how Sally's mom made life changing chimichangas that made her into the women she is. crap like that is skippable.
