Nevar actually played it, but I liek teh music

the controls mostly suck, don't use up to accelerate and the game is like 90% better; also don't pick Sonic if you're just starting out lol
please remember there are buttons to do hard turns too

the Gems Collection version is insanely easy to 100% vs on Saturn (which I haven't managed to unlock everything on); haven't bothered finishing the original PC release though but it's closer to on Saturn

the Saturn version has the best graphics on that machine and it isn't close at all, but Gems Collection is naturally the best looking version

2player on Saturn is a nightmare due to the draw distance

only 5 tracks is lame, even in an era with games like Ridge Racer (which only had 2 tracks, but were raced forward and backward, and with different speed classes)

with a bit more time in the oven, it could be a great game, but if I'm EXTREMELY charitable, the game we got is a 7/10 at its best
and like a 5/10 at its worst
lots of cool shit to like, but it is still rough to play and feels like it's lacking a lot

oh yeah, and radiant emerald is probably the most fun course to actually race on, I don't know why they went so hard on making these stages that seem almost like they want to be Mario 64 levels instead of proper race tracks
like, I get the idea they had, but the controls and everything are just much better suited for more straightforward racing
a lot of the corners in the other stages are absurd too, like they were designed for characters with much tighter, platform game style controls

i may have played it once or twice but i found it mostly unplayable

sonic has pretty consistently portrayed as the kind of guy who would race cars despite being able to go faster than them because driving is fun and cars are cool
he can straight up outrun a plane, but he still has one because flying is cool
that shit in Sonic Riders with the Extreme Gear, that shit is right up Sonic's alley - yeah, he could outrun Jet on his board, but Sonic wants to kick that retard's face in at his own game and riding crazy hoverboards and shit is 200% in character for Sonic, the guy is all over cool extreme sports shit

that being said, I do want another on-foot sonic racing game
but with controls that aren't so shit
the modern boost style of sonic gameplay seems uniquely suited to being turned into an actual racing game

LOL. I actually liked the extreme gear tbh, extreme gear suits Sonic 1000x more than cars, so if i had to choose, i'd choose that.
