hii! i made that fikaba thread a couple of weeks ago. my fiakaba run was useless because the whole project was cancelled because nobody did/wanted to do it. i got it working by the way so thanks! but now i want to try a textboard script like 2ch specifically: https://github.com/j416dy/2ch
how do i set this up without a bunch of errors? also sorry for using this as a help desk, ill find a way to use this in class later.

also for clarification, i get a internal server error when i try to open it. ive never done cgi but i dont think its supposed to happen

>ive never done cgi
I wrote down many of teh common stumbling blocks I've encountered when trying to run these old Japanese CGI/Perl scripts - it's likely one (or more) of these causing the error: https://cgi.heyuri.net/misc/cgi-guide.html
>>
file permissions & the end of line sequence stuff was what caused me the most trouble when trying to run cgi scripts

dizzy okay so i think i did all that in the guide but it still is an error. have you or anyone ever used the 2ch sciprt before?
>>
>have you or anyone ever used the 2ch sciprt before?
No - is it even complete? unsure

I think you'd be better off using https://prefkarafuto.github.io/ or something
Note: I haven't tried this script either, but it's a continuation of 0ch+ (zerochan plus) which is at least known to work

There's also https://github.com/RealAngeleno/ZeroChEN - an English translation of the original 0ch+, made by Angeleno of the (now dead?) world2ch revival. It proved to be vulnerable to spam however, as most old Japanese web scripts are sweat2

alright i think i narrowed the problem down to apache config which is why i cant run any of these.. does that guide cover all of the config stuff? im using everything u are. also, if a file is UNIX LF then it doesnt need dos2unix right?
>>
>does that guide cover all of the config stuff?
If there's anything else required beyond what I wrote on that page, then I don't remember it off the top of my head sweat2

One thing is to always remember to restart Apache after you've changed anything in the config file(s), otherwise your changes won't be live

If you're still having issues, I think you should first try installing a very simple CGI/Perl script just to check it's all actually working (if you haven't already) - the more complicated scripts with lots of moving parts often come with their own issues, or are just more difficult to configure

>if a file is UNIX LF then it doesnt need dos2unix right?
Correct - conversion is not necessary if it's already Unix-type to begin with!
