I think having ceiling light dimmers would be nice, sometimes they're really too bright in the morning and at night. ( ´ω`)

I'd like to mention that general shift toward blue/white color temperatures of commercial and office lighting from pre-2000s red/green color temperature has negatively impacted human kind dizzy

WTF, WHO FLIPPED TEH LIGHT SWITCH!? IT'S SO DARK NOW!!! ヽ(`Д´)ノ

Oh, thanks for turning it back on ヽ(´∇`)ノ
Please dont move your mouse, or it'll be dark and scary again (´~`)

blue light and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race

my room has white LED bulbs and I still say "mankind" instead of "human kind" or "human race" so I don't think that's the problem

i believe in the supremacy of incandescent light. i was really freaked out when they put a "ban" into effect but all that happened after the "ban" was they stopped selling soft white bulbs which sucks because those are the best since the frosting diffuses the light but it's not the end of the world. as long as i have incandescent bulbs in any form i'm happy.

and besides i started hoarding soft white incandescent bulbs when they started threatening a ban so i have bulbs for years
>>
Incandescents are still best if a nice warm dimming effect is more important than power usage - but otherwise, a 2700K LED bulb with an appropriate wattage and high CRI will look indistinguishable from its incandescent counterpart

And I say this as sum1 who was also hoarding (and using) incandescent bulbs until a year and a half ago cuz I was concerned that they'd look too blue or make colors look unnatural sweat2

Now my room lights use around 15 watts instead of 120 watts xd

Who uses 120W incandescents instead of 50-60W sweat2
Personally, I don't like LEDs because they break down within a year every time. I tried tons of very expensive brands, same deal. I read someone suggest the problem isn't the bulb but the control electronics that companies fuck up (presumably on purpose) and if you mod it to reduce current to it, it can last longer than incandescents.
But I don't see the point when I can just have a good old REAL bulb that dims smoothly without requiring special circuitry.

But my all-time favorite is flame light. Oil or wood flames make the most comfortable and soothing light, plus it smells and looks good.

>Who uses 120W incandescents instead of 50-60W
That was combined - I have 3x spotlights that were using 40W incandescents, but are now using 5W LEDs

>Personally, I don't like LEDs because they break down within a year every time
I can only speak for myself, but I haven't replaced a single bulb since switching to LED in late 2023, whereas b4 I was constantly having to replace the incandescents every couple of months (sometimes sooner) sweat2
>>
>That was combined
Ah, that makes sense!

>whereas b4 I was constantly having to replace the incandescents every couple of months (sometimes sooner)
So weird, I wonder why. Personally I have only had to replace 1 incandescent in 30 years.
Some people get even longer lifetimes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centennial_Light

very nice

it's not indistinguishable. i've compared them side by side. incandescent always wins. led looks flat and lifeless no matter how high the cri and the cri of led still can't beat the perfect cri of incandescent.
>>
I also did a side-by-side comparison (very easy with spotlights), and I couldn't spot any difference besides the LED being liek 1% brighter - and I was pretty particular about it and looking for any subtle differences since I myself was an LED h8r. There's no perceivable color "flatness" or anything - it looks identical to the incandescent equivalent unsure

For what it's worth, the ones I bought were Lepro R50 E14

I have to agree with >>140433
The difference was also very obvious to me during my comparisons.
>>
If the difference was obvious, are u sure they were the same color temperature? Not just "warm", cuz the difference between 2700K and 3000K (both sold as "warm") is indeed very obvious
>>
>>140443
yes. same exact color temp. i'm an expert on this topic so i wouldn't make that mistake. i used a philips led with the highest cri available (95ish). i use philips incandescents as well because they're the highest quality available (but i'd rather use the lowest quality incandescent than the highest quality led). the light that led casts simply looks artificial compared to incandescent. the only real argument people have against incandescents are "efficiency" which literally means nothing to me. i don't care how "efficient" my light bulbs are at producing light. i only care about the quality of light they produce. plus they don't even last longer anymore as many try to claim because they're designed to break after a year. i generally get at least two years out of my incandescents.

plus when i first moved into my apartment i discovered that the ceiling fan in the dining area was one of those designed for leds so it could only take low wattage bulbs so i had these high cri philips leds in it for a little over a year and when the living room and dining area lights were both on you could definitely see the difference despite being the same color temp and lumens. i eventually put night light bulbs in the dining area because i couldn't stand it and dim incandescent lighting is better than bright led lighting.
>>
plus it's not like cri is a trivial thing. lower cri means less color and less depth. there's obviously going to be a difference if the cri is lower and the cri of incandescent light is unmatched by even the best leds.
