Most valuable instrument in music?

[]
I think it's the bass guitar. A good bassline can give an otherwise boring song some unexpected swagger. The drums are a close second-- they frequently help out the bass anyway...

this question doesn't make sense
[]
A musical instrument has 2 primary purposes - to lead a piece (usually as a substitute for the human voice), or to provide accompaniment

The best lead instrument would be one with the greatest range of possible expression, while standing out from the accompaniment in terms of pitch and tone. The range and versatility of an electric guitar and synthesizers - particularly their ability to output bright, ear-catching sounds - makes them some of the greatest lead instruments ヽ(´ー`)ノ

In terms of accompaniment, the best instrument would be one that enhances the lead vocal/instrument the most without conflicting or getting in the way of the lead. The four primary components of music are melody, harmony, bass, and rhythm - since the lead vocal/instrument is typically providing the melody, the best accompanying instrument would be able to offer all 3 of the remaining components by itself, even standing in for the lead to provide the melody at times. That makes instruments like piano, organ, guitar, and polyphonic synthesizers some of the best accompanying instruments ヽ(´ー`)ノ
[]
piano is such key compoment to so much music, and sounds lovely just by itself too. I play the saxophone tho.
[]
>piano is such key compoment
Surprise pun! banana
[]
There isn't a "most valuable" or "important" instrument in music, it highly depends on what kind of sound you're looking for. You can do an innumerable amount of things with a piano, but it'll never sound like a trumpet. A good composer knows exactly what specific instruments to use for a specific section, and mostly importantly knows how to "blend" the instruments together so that they all contribute to the song.

That being said, I think what >>4420 said is a good answer to your question. There's a reason why Bass, Drums and Guitar/Keys are a must for pretty much any band. Drums give rhythm, Bass gives bass, Guitar/Keys do the rest (accompaniment, melody, harmony)

Education and employment are the two biggest lies society shoves down our throats. You grind hard everyday at school or college only to end up with a shitty job. You want a good education? Well you need to be rich. You want to get a good job? Well if your wealthy enough you can buy yourself a nice cozy internship that's relatively well paying. What do you even learn in school anyway? Nothing. Just how to be a passive slave.
[]

Sadly I must agree but I still think you should have better chance to get better job with higher education "paper". For example you must be pretty dumb to end in McDonalds with high school.

This reeks of cope. Plenty of people do well in life because they work hard, are gifted at their academic pursuits, and financially responsible.

A lot of people don't end up where they want to be, and just have to find an excuse as to why.

50 FUN THINGS TO DO IN AN ELEVATOR!

[]
Make race car noises when anyone gets on or off.
Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and announce to the other passengers that this is your "personal space".
Grimace painfully while smacking you forehead and muttering: "Shut up, darn it! All of you just shut UP!"
Whistle the first seven notes of "It's a Small World" incessantly.
Sell Girl Scout Cookies.
On a long ride, sway side to side at the natural frequency of the elevator.
Shave.
Crack open your briefcase or purse, and while peering inside ask: "Got enough air in there?"
Offer name tags to everyone getting on the elevator. Wear yours upside-down.
Stand silent and motionless in the corner, facing the wall, without getting off.
When arriving at your floor, grunt and strain to yank the doors open, then act embarassed when they open by themselves.
Lean over to another passenger and whisper: "Noogie patrol coming!"
Greet everyone on the elevator with a warm handshake and ask them to call you Admiral.
One word: Flatulence!
On the highest floor, hold the door open and demand that it stay open until you hear the penny you dropped down the shaft go "plink" at the bottom.
Do Tai Chi exercises.
Stare, grinning at an other passenger for a while, and then announce: "I've got new socks on!"
When at least 8 people have boarded, moan from the back: "Oh, not now -- motion sickness!"
Give religious tracks to each passenger.
Meow occasionally.
Bet the other passengers you can fit a quarter in your nose.
Frown and mutter "Gotta go, gotta go," then sigh and say, "Oops!"
Show the other passengers a wound and ask if looks infected.
Sing "Mary had a little lamb" while continually pushing buttons.
Holler "Chutes away!" whenever the elevator descends.
Walk on with a cooler that says "human head" on the side.
Stare at another passenger for a while then announce, "You're one of THEM!" and move to the far corner of the elevator.
Burp and then say, "mmmm...tasty!"
Leave a box between the doors.
Ask each passenger getting on if you can push the button for them.
Wear a puppet on your hand and talk to other passengers "through" it.
Start a sing-a-long.
When the elevator is silent, look around and ask, "Is that your beeper?"
Play the harmonica.
Shadow box.
Say, "Ding!" at each floor.
Lean against the button panel.
Say, "I wonder what all these do" and push the red buttons.
Listen to the elevator walls with a stethoscope.
Blow your nose and offer to show the contents of your kleenex to other passengers.
Bring a chair along.
Take a bite of a sandwich and ask another passenger: "Wanna see wha in muh mouf?"
Blow spit bubbles.
Announce in a demonic voice: "I must find a more suitable host body."
Pull your gum out of your mouth in long strings.
Carry a blanket and clutch it protectively.
Make explosion noises when anyone presses a button.
Wear "X-Ray Specs" and leer suggestively at other passengers.
Stare at your thumb and say, "I think it's getting larger."
If anyone brushes against you, recoil and holler, "Bad touch!"

Where's a good place to get images apart from the major search engines?

I need some images for an assignment. I was supposed to take them myself, but it's too late for that now, so my only hope is to get together some stock images-- only, our teach is kind of a tech savvy guy and assured us that he would be able to tell if we scraped some images off of Google or Bing or DuckDuckGo or those stock image sites. Most unhelpful memes?

By 'memes' I mean bad psychological/sociological ideas which get shared too much ( ’~’)

For me, the dumbest imageboard related one is that people have bad social skills from 'schizoid personality disorder'. This is basically dismissive avoidant attachment but supposedly unfixable, with a trendy 'schizo' name for narcs...

On 2ch, using sage would turn your ID to "??????"

"Heaven" was either some kind of 2ch reference I'm unfamiliar with (there was a VIP Heaven board, maybe related to that?), or it just randomly started with wakaba/kareha when they added the feature (there's an old post where it's mentioned on their support board, but I can't find it right now...)

1990-2000: The End of History

[]
I was thinking the other day about how the world seems to be going crazy. How I wanted it to go back to "normal" - then I realized, this is normal. It always was. It was the world I was born in that was the outlier. Chaos has been the norm throughout most of the world, most of the time.

September 11th, 1990 President George H.W. Bush says in a speech: "We stand today at a unique and extraordinary moment. The crisis in the Persian Gulf, as grave as it is, also offers a rare opportunity to move toward an historic period of cooperation. Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective — a new world order — can emerge: a new era [...]

"A hundred generations have searched for this elusive path to peace, while a thousand wars raged across the span of human endeavor. Today that new world is struggling to be born, a world quite different from the one we've known. A world where the rule of law supplants the rule of the jungle."

In 1991 an international coalition led by the United States easily defeats the world's fourth largest military in Operation Desert Storm. In December of that same year the Soviet Union collapses. For a time, Bush appeared to be right. We Westerners entered into a unipolar world, a world of prosperity unparalleled in history. Despots would be disposed of. Peace, democracy and free trade would reign. It was the dream of everyone, the end of history. But it was just that, a dream. September 11th, 2001 was a rude awaking that the rule of the jungle had never really ended. That the United States had become the despotic empire it was born to oppose. And most of all, that chaos had never really been subdued.

If you escaped the cycle of reincarnation, what would you do?

[]
today, my professor brought up an interesting question, he's no bhuddist or anything and neither am i, but lets say you escape plato's cave, the cycle of reincarnation, or eternal torment, realistically would you abandon the world completely, would you be bound to it, or would you try to return to it to proselytize about the new world?
You could say one answer now, but in that moment would you be able to say the same?
i feel like i would be bound to the world, even though i've gained little from it, and enjoyed little of it, i feel as though i have every reason to suicide, but even if i did i cant expect the world to release its grasp on me
Marked for deletion (Old)
[]
Are you saying that Plato's cave and the cycle of reincarnations are basically the same thing? Because in both cases it means that people are distracted from the truth by their attachment to material things (which are in fact illusions)?
I think it's more of a conceptual thing? You're not blocked inside Plato's cave/the cycle of reincarnation the same way you would be blocked inside a level of a vide ogame... You can't escape Plato's cave while keeping a mentality that is bound to material things, because Plato's cave *IS* your mentality.
I'm not an expert on Buddhism, but if I'm correct, Buddhist monks spend their life going through meditations. And they think that these mediations will give them a state of mind that will let them break free from the cycle of reincarnations. Then they drink a mixture that makes them die and mummify their corpse, and other Buddhist monks say "Look, he has been meditating for 200 years, he sure is in a profound meditation mona2".

im pretty but sober now but i feel funny. it sucked ass. it took forever to make effects and i ended up drinking a bit more than i did at first. i had diarrhea and my stomach ached most of the time. i didnt start hallucinating until pretty far when the shadows in my room looked like they were moving and stuff was wiggling. the whole time my eyes were wide open the whole time and i couldnt get them to be normal without just closing them completely. i also started being really grateful and stuff so i texted my friends about how cool they are and stuff but i am reading the messages back again to my sober self and I sound like a complete moron.

In total, I'll probably never do it again but if I do do it again I'm gonna drink way more

It really works, conspiracies have a scientific basis!

Hello everybody!

My name is Dasha, I'm 23 years old, I'm from Latvia, I want to tell you interesting observations from life)
I was skeptical about everything magical: spells, love spells, spoilage, etc., watched Harry Potter and laughed at these weirdos ....
I studied these issues on the website https://www.zagovorna.ru
But one time a friend offered to argue, and held a small ceremony, it was incredible, but it worked, it was directed at my body so that I felt aroused to her for the next week, and what do you think?
I couldn't sleep, my nipples were constantly standing up and my whole body wanted to go to visit her!
As a result, I admitted that the conspiracies work, and she turned off this energy effect.
So be careful and don't deny what you haven't studied in practice)

Good luck to everyone!

After 3-4 months of My new hobby, life became more interesting and even girls began to pay more attention to me!

Inbox Shenanigans

[]
Today got a message in my inbox even though I never set a tripcode to any of my messages. How do I access it? How'd I even get a private message if I never set my trip?

I don't think they are for you. You need to enter tripcode to access them.

Oh it doesn't say "my messages" it says "messages in the last 10 days" (-_-)

Anyone know what happened to FreeSpeechTube?

[]
I checked a while ago and it said they were 'cleaning up'. I checked again more recently and it simply 404'd.

I hope it's not down for good. It was part of my entertainment to go onto that site every once in a while and see what kind of crazy drivel had been newly posted. It was like stepping into a bizarro world where the usual rules of morality had been flipped on their head-- as such, it was very entertaining.

So what happened exactly? Drama with the admin? Did the pedos over there go 2 far and get the Feds involved? Was it hacked by moralfag crusaders maybe? Could they just not get a developer anymore?

I'm not a free speech warrior by any measure, but I really hope it wasn't just 'moralfags shut it down' or something a long those lines. A site getting killed just for hosting objectionable content would set a bad precedent. How small do you think the Overton Window would get once something like that starts happening?

Thoughts about TikTok Users

[]
Whenever i see someone watching Tiktok, i ask myself, whats goin on inside that person.
The thing is, that i just cant understand why you should watch these cringy TikTok videos.
These Tiktokers are just running behind the trends and short living trashy memes and are trying to get the most likes out of it.
What i also dont understand is, if these people understand, that Tiktok is spying on them 24/7 and is collecting Biometric data of them.
Its so hard to understand, that these people dont care about Privacy anymore.
And when you come to them with some other, less cringy thing like heyuri, they just block the dialog with some sort of argument like "Eewwww, this website looks so ancient" or "This is only for nerds".

boy how I wish it was only the americans mona2

The format of Tiktok disallows for any high quality or even medium quaility content. With that format you cannot say anything meaningful nor can you elaborate in any way. This results in extremely low quality users

Yeah, it's like a confectionery company hosting a competition for people to make the most addictive, unhealthy candy, only providing the worst ingredients like HFCS and a dirty, cramped kitchen.

On Heyuri we only provide quality, free-range, grass-fed LOLs onigiri
