it sounds like he hasn't watched enough anime to know that japs were wearing those masks long before 2020

that means japs were clowns long before 2020

that is because you don't know how to learn langs.
Duolingo will not teach you very much at all. Duolingo should be like 1/10th of what you do at most.

belerussian is not really similar to russian. Most of them speak russian anyway though

I attend university and use their resources to learn Japanese, and attend all the classes, and it's working way better than when I did everything on teh computer iyahoo

The main advice I can give you is to do many different things. The vocabulary you learn while doing your flashcards -- don't just memorize it. Use it!
Read the word! Go look up newspaper articles where the word might be used! Newspaper articles become easy relatively quickly, so they help you understand the context in which the word is used, the particles it is used with, sometimes expressions with the word in it.
Write sentences with the word in it! Try to use the grammar you recently learned! Then, write about the word in English, and translate it in Japanese!
Listen to the word! Go listen to podcasts in Japanese where you don't understand most of the things they're saying, but identify the word. Recognize it!
Then finally, speak the word! Find a friend, or join a Japanese learning group, and try to talk while using the new word!

Doing all of this is made easy in a university context. 20 hours of class every week is huge. The lessons are structured, so everyone is going to listen and speak and read and write about the same new vocabulary every week. It is however way harder when you're in front of your computer (´人`)

It is, however, not impossible. You have to be VERY determined. But I believe it is the best way to learn Japanese: through sheer hard work and dedication ( ´∀`)つ

i know some basic japanese. i know all the hiragana and katakana.

but i feel like japan is slowly becoming just like everywhere else, theyre censoring their media, theyre even behaving like westerners in some cases. Japan isnt the same japan as it was 2 decades ago... Why would i want to learn japanese when japan will be just like everywhere else in the future... depression

if you've had this feeling, you understand, if you dont understand then im happy for you.
[]
the Japan I wanted to visit was circa 2004
but the media of the Japan of the past remains, and a lot of it is still only in Japanese

either way, the most important thing about learning nipponese is to keep at it every day
always put more stuff in nip in your head

I started learning on my own around a month ago using some Anki, since I've seen people recommend it on the boards for well over a decade. It's quite daunting right now (The Subject-Object-Verb thing always confuses me) but I do not let that deter me.

The deck I'm using focuses more on listening comprehension rather than characters or grammar, which feels more intuitive for me since that's how children learn language. Just gotta keep grinding Anki decks and watching animu - as an incorrigible NEET, there's not much else 'productive' for me to do with my time. Don't give up! ( ´∀`)つ

Welp, the Pope's dead.. let's talk about it!

[]
I woke up this morning and immediately got the news that Pope Francis passed away right after Easter sunday (which is a little eerie Σ(゚д゚|||)). I also found it ironic that he spend time with JD Vance just before he died, like shit if I got stared down by JD Vance's burning blue eyes, I think i'd turn die as well. But I wanna know what you all think, since this is such a suprise.

He could survive a week without 4chan
[]
LOL
[]
I can't forgive him for that hideous mascot
[]
maybe one of the nurses was so upset about 4chan dying that he forgot to change the pope's adult diaper frequently enough or something which caused more stress which led to the stroke
[]
What if the pope died because a heyurizen didnt come downstairs to have easter dinner with his family, which caused a butterfly effect chain reaction that lead to a solar flare which caused magnetic imbalances which effect atmospheric pressure which caused the weakening of the popes brain blood vessels in his head during his flight which created the ideal environment for a stroke!?? rantarantaranta

>Why are a bunch of non-blog-readers trying to solve non-existent problems blogs allegedly have?
Because half the web switched to the blog format instead of more appropriate ones, and that's a shame!
[]
how will this affect the blogosphere?
[]
Found a thread about blogs today. I thought maybe I should read it, but then I saw that it was about making long blog posts as a parody of the concept of blogging generally and kinda lost focus and decided to make my own parody blogpost in the thread instead. I had hoped that it would have people sharing blogs they've liked in the past, like for example, I enjoyed https://wartard.blogspot.com/ , although the analysis he does for conflicts is pretty depressing. Also hasn't updated in a long time. Most blogs are kinda dead, but I guess I don't bother to find them anymore.

I wonder if anything I've typed in this post matches anything anyone else said, I'd better read the thread before posting... Oh wait this is an old thread. I hope no one notices my necroposting. \(º □ º l|l)/

I like Matt Might's blog (https://matt.might.net/articles/). Interesting (though not very thorough or particularly groundbreaking) thoughts about tech and bio. The guy has had an interesting life-changing story.

But for the most part I don't really do blogs, because I care about content much more than persons, and I have been relying on google to find the appropriate contents for a long time. Thus, I would often find interesting blog posts here and there, but then skip the blog itself and just save the article.

Actually, 'collection' sites like https://multicians.org/multics-stories.html (which aren't proper blogs but are not unrelated I think) are much more fascinating to me (by far my favorite piece of content of all times is the "it can be done" article on that page, actually).

Also, I think modern blogs are almost entirely about $$$ and no longer about making interesting content, as most things on teh modern interwebz.

I want a little sister

[]
please PLEASE god just give me a little sister!!!! Does anyone here don't want their sister anymore? Would you mind selling her to me? I'm willing to pay big money for a little sister. I already told my mother about this, but she did one of those surgeries that prevents you from having more kids, so it's unlikely she'll be having another kid anytime soon.

I'm the youngest of 7, I'll always be the baby. Gotten easier as they've all had kids though, meaning an endless procession of "little sisters and brothers" to play with.
